Eine internationale Zusammenarbeit also.
Gracias, Thank you, Merci, vielen Dank!
Interview with Randi from England and David from Madrid for the #FestivalParaAdrian:
1. What was your first impression when you saw the video of Adrián in the hospital?
#I first saw the video of Adrián on Twitter in Spring 2016. I was immediately captivated by his smile and the effort he making with his series of passes. I loved his style! To me, it was clear that he was not playing; he was performing. And he could see the bull!
I starting looking forward to the tweets and soon contacted his father, Eduardo, for permission to start the very first hashtag: #AdriánTorero. The focus in those early days was to support Adrián in his dream to be a torero. The response was phenomenal! It was months later that the dream of mounting a festival in Valencia for Adrián, and other children like him, was born. It has developed at such a pace since then!
2. Adrián is a strong boy and it seems that practicing to be a torero helps to fight his illness and the dark days. Do you think that when he is happy, as he was in Valencia in July when he met several toreros, that this helps his Situation?
# Absolutely! Everyone, child or adult, with a dream is excited to seeing it coming true. Adrián’s dream to have a festival in Valencia, his local plaza, has brought him into contact with a number of toreros, ganaderos and aficionados. He clearly gains strength from sharing his passion with everyone he meets along the way. What he and his father could never have realised is how much each of us has gained from hearing about Adrián and seeing his photos and videos. He always wears a smile and never complains. The same is true for his father and the rest of the family. They are positive and cheerful, in the most difficult of times, and set an example for us all.
3. A lot of “antis” are against children attending bullfights. What are your feelings on this subject?
# If children are interested in bullfighting and want to go to the plaza and watch, then I think they should. To me, it is no different than taking a child to a football match or a ballet performance. Children are smarter than many people give them credit for. They know what they like. As with any interest, it must be nurtured from a very young age. #SiALosNiñosEnLosToros!
4. Do you have plans to go to Valencia especially for the Festival Para Adrián? Do you know if other members of the Club Taurino of London and other British aficionados are planning to attend?
# There is nothing that could keep me away from Valencia on 8th October! This festival is a dream come true for me too. I am amazed by the passion and the pace that it has been developed! I want to share the happy day with Adrián, Eduardo and the rest of their family, and with all those who have worked so hard to make it happen.
Yes, I know that other members of the Club Taurino of London are travelling to Valencia for the festival and making preparation even before the cartel is announced. We are very passionate aficionados in the United Kingdom! Our membership is more than 350 people. Members are also very keen to support Adrián and the cause.
5. What is your Wish list for toreros and ganaderias for the Festival?
# Like everyone on Twitter, I am aware of all of the toreros and ganaderos who have offered to participate in the Festival. There is no combination that would disappoint me. No one will be disappointed by the cartel. It will be a terrific day in a beautiful plaza!
6. I know that you have already met Adrián and his father, Eduardo, but what will you say to them when you first see them at the Festival, knowing that it is a dream come true for both of them?
# I will thank them for sharing their dream with the rest of us and for bringing everyone together to make it come true. It is indeed a dream come true for them, and for Adrián and children like him, it will be a day out when maybe they can think less about their illness and enjoy being together. There will also be funds raised for cancer charities and the aficionados can celebrate taurine solidarity and enjoy the corrida. It is a day when everyone will benefit!
I am so glad to have met Adrián, Eduardo and all the people working on the Festival. My life has been truly enriched by the experience and these relationships. “Soy Taurina” – and because of Adrián, I am even happier about it!
Interview with David from Madrid for the #FestivalParaAdrian
1. What was your first impression when you saw the video of Adrián in the Hospital?
# It was very moving for me to see a child with the illness that Adrián has to have such strength and stamina, to take the muleta, or even a towel in its place, and begin to make passes. This was thrilling.
2. Adrián is a strong boy and it seems that practicing to be a torero helps to fight his illness and the dark days. Do you think that when he is happy, as he was in Valencia in July when he met several toreros, that this helps his Situation?
#Totally. The Feria de Julio helped Adrián so much, in both mind and spirit. The first afternoon, he had been a bit tired and his leg had been hurting him. But then, after the wonderful vuelta alongside maestro Andrés Roca Rey, everything started to change. When he returned to the tendidos, he said to his father: “Papa, my leg had been bothering me, but as I made the vuelta, all my pain disappeared.” His love for the bulls is tremendous and he gets so much strength from it.
3. A lot of “antis” are against children attending bullfights. What are your feelings on this subject?
# I offer something that Adrián himself said on a radio programme in Valencia: “If others do not like bullfighting, then they should not go. But to ban me from something which is perfectly legal breaks my heart.” That was more or less what Adrián said that day.
4. Do you have plans to go to Valencia especially for the Festival Para Adrián? Will come some of your friends to see the Festival?
# Yes, friends from my suburb in Madrid, and also friends from all over Spain, plan to come to the Festival. We hope to fill the plaza for Adrián and to help him and, as he calls them, his friends -- the other children with illnesses similar to his.
5. What is your Wish list for toreros and ganaderias for the Festival?
# I am a torista and, as such, have an ideal cartel and ganaderias in mind. That said, I also appreciate good, honest toreo. If the Festival’s cartel is anything like the one I have in my head, it will be thanks to the good work of Simon Casas Productions for developing the amazing cartel that an event like this deserves. And thanks too to Nacho Lloret for his effort and selfless work from the very beginning.
6. I know that you have already met Adrián and his father, Eduardo, but what will you say to them when you first see them at the Festival, knowing that it is a dream come true for both of them?
# I have known Adrián and his father, Eduardo, for several months now. I do not know if I will be able to form words on the day of the Festival but if I can, I will tell them that… it is their day and they deserve to enjoy it to the full, that the work to bring it about has been well worth the effort and, as a result, many children will be helped.
I would like to add here my recognition of Susana Ortiz and Alejandro Cortijo. They have been involved on a daily basis, which is not easy to do. I would also like to thank everyone at all the television and radio stations, the journalists, the taurine professionals and aficionados who have been interested and supportive, because without each and every one of them, we could not have been successful in bringing the event about.
Many Thanks, Thank you very much for all your help for this Festival, Randi. Esto va por ti! Ole!
